LOVE LETTER

2019

Gauze, Needles, Safety Pins, Wood, Linen, Latex, Synthetic Skin

Love Letter was created by piercing and connecting pieces of gauze and latex with safety pins. With red threads, I weaved words of beratement from my childhood that I hoped to forget. The work explores the act of remembering and forgetting trauma. In the past, I tended to suppress my feelings by forcing myself not to ruminate on the past. Now I believe the first step towards healing is to recognize the trauma. Only in this way can I embrace forgiveness. This is a love letter to myself.
